Darla Lemay

Darla Lemay is the Artistic Director, and Theatre Director of Stageworks Academy of the Performing Arts in Leduc, Alberta. With more than 34 years of experience in performing arts education, Darla has dedicated her career to creating inspiring opportunities for children and youth to discover confidence, creativity, and a lifelong love of the arts.

A passionate educator, director, and entrepreneur, Darla has built Stageworks into a thriving performing arts academy offering dance, theatre, drama, preschool programming, and inclusive arts experiences for students of all ages and abilities. Her innovative vision extends beyond traditional arts education, integrating leadership development, community engagement, and whole-child learning into every program.

Darla holds a certificate in Arts and Cultural Management from MacEwan University and has directed numerous large-scale productions, youth musicals, and community performances. She is also the creator of the S.M.I.L.E. Playschool program, a unique early learning program that combines play-based education with music, movement, visual arts, drama, and dance to foster creativity, confidence, and kindergarten readiness.

Known for her ability to inspire both students and educators, Darla believes the performing arts have the power to transform lives. Her commitment to excellence, innovation, and inclusive programming has made Stageworks a respected leader in arts education within the community.
